Our Vampire Film Watch-List

Between us we have watched over 130 different vampire films, most of them together. We don't know the exact number, but the following list is as complete as we can make it.

Over the years we have developed our own, very personal, method of rating vampire films. We look for things like shapely vampires in diaphanous gowns, beer-wenches or mobs with burning torches. If you get any of these in the first five minutes of a film you know you are on a winner. Nudity in general is good too, funky Seventies interiors and atmospheric graveyard scenes help a lot also. If you keep reading these posts, you will soon find out the sort of things we like, as well as the actors, directors and studios. We have even decided to tag our posts so you (and we!) can find all the winners. Because, trust us when we tell you, there are quite a few losers!

We have also, over the years, got interested in just how many different ways the vampire myth is told: how vampires are created, how they sire other vampires, what are the signs of a vampire, their powers, strengths and weaknesses, and how they are repelled and destroyed. We will always mention these, and will start using tags for them too once there are a few of them.

Below is our watch-list of vampire films. Many of them we have watched many times over. If you look online you will find longer lists (like this one). But this is our list. And—although we are kind-of aiming for two hundred films—our list does not pretend to be complete, it is just a guide to what we have posted about here, and what we will post on in the future.

We will produce similar lists of witchy films, Animal transformation films etc as we can prepare them.

BTW: we won't usually post on a film until we have re-watched it, and there are quite a few films to review, so it will be a while before we get around to posting on all of them: years in fact. That is the idea at least.
